The Ugly Duckling was a commission for The Discover Centre in Stratford and ran over 3 days in October 2013. An immersive installation for children, where we become amateur ornithologists - with a special interest in ugly birds! Our twitching leads us to find a mysterious egg. Hidden in in the rustling bulrushes we imagine what this egg will become and invent our own possible journeys into the future. Before leaving the egg to hatch in peace, we each leave a tracing paper feather with our imagined future written on it - a gift of a possibility to keep this ugly bird warm in its nest, dreaming of flying far way.
